Description
TEG-LEGAL – Pro: everything in Standard, plus more. Every install carries a free 30-day Pro trial with no sign-up. A license is for one WordPress site; codes are Ed25519-signed and verified offline, so the plugin keeps working if our server is down. When a license lapses nothing is deleted – every screen stays readable and the data can be exported.
- A trust ledger is per client, and the bank balance is not permission. A pooled client account holds money belonging to many people. The bank sees one balance and it is usually comfortable. The obligation is to each client SEPARATELY.
- Pay client A’s expert when A’s ledger is at zero and the money that left was client B’s. That is conversion – the commonest route to disbarment – and what makes it so common is that NOTHING LOOKS WRONG AT THE TIME. The cheque clears, the balance is fine, and the shortfall surfaces when B asks for their money back.
- So a disbursement is tested against that client’s own ledger and refused if it exceeds it, whatever the account holds. There is no override and there will not be one: every reason to want one is a reason to go and find the missing deposit.
- Reconciliation is three-way – bank statement, firm book balance, and the sum of every client ledger. Bank against book proves the firm can add up; only the third number proves whose money is in the account.
- The ledger is APPEND-ONLY. A mistake is corrected by a further entry naming the one it corrects, with both kept for ever, and every row stores the balance as it stood at that moment – which is what an investigator asks for and what a recomputed total cannot honestly reproduce.
- Conflicts search every party on every matter INCLUDING CLOSED ONES, ranked by seriousness, gating the opening of a matter – and run against website enquiries as they arrive, because finding it before the first meeting is worth a great deal more.
- Rounding happens in exactly one place, real minutes and billed hours are both kept, and the increment is PRINTED on the invoice – because a firm that bills in one increment while telling the client another cannot explain it later.
- Deadlines carry the rule the date came from, show the arithmetic, count court days as well as calendar days, warn twice, and need a second named person for anything fatal.
- Three-way reconciliation, contingency settlement statements showing the fee under both bases, deadlines and docketing, the firm reports, e-mail reminders, the client portal and the read-only API.
What this is not. It is NOT an accounting package and does not replace one or your accountant. It does not move money – it records movements and refuses the ones that must not happen. THERE IS NO COURT-RULES ENGINE, and that is the most deliberate omission in it: one that was out of date, or correct for the wrong jurisdiction, would be CONFIDENTLY WRONG, and a confident wrong date is worse than none because nobody checks it. A firm doing high-volume litigation in one jurisdiction should buy a product with a maintained rules engine. There is no document assembly, no e-signature, no e-filing and no payment processing.
